Saint John


The gospel of John has some contradictions between the King James version and New International Version. Why?

King James Version


New International Version

"And there came also Nic-o-de'mus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight."

John 19:39

"He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds."

God or Man

"Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, dost thou believe on the Son of God?"

John 9:35

"Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"

Hebrew or Aramaic

"This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin."

John 19:20

"Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek."

8 or 7 days

"And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you."

Meat or Fish

"Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No."

Vinegar or Wine vinegar

Jonas or John

Dear Woman or just Woman

"Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come."

Begotten or Only

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
