Miracles of Jesus
vs.
Other Prophets'
This study shows that other
Prophets performed the similar miracles as Jesus Christ in the Bible.
These miracles are mentioned in the Old Testament.
Raised the dead!
|
|
"Jesus, once
more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a
stone laid across the entrance. "Take away the stone," he
said.
"But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by
this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four
days."
Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you
believed, you would see the glory of God?"
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and
said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew
that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of
the people standing here, that they may believe that you
sent me."
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice,
"Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and
feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his
face."
John 11:38-44
|
"Then he
stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to
the Lord, "O Lord my God, let this boy's life return to
him!"
The Lord heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned
to him, and he lived. Elijah picked up the child and carried
him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his
mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!".
1 Kings 17:21-3
"Just as Gehazi
was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to
life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life
came to beg the king for her house and land.
Gehazi said, "This is the woman, my lord the king, and
this is her son whom Elisha restored to life."
2 Kings 8:5

Water!
"During the
fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on
the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake,
they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried
out in fear."
Matthew 14:25-6
|
"Then Moses
stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the
Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned
it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the
Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall
of water on their right and on their left."
Exodus 14:21-2
"Fifty men of the company of the prophets
went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah
and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. Elijah took his cloak,
rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided
to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed
over on dry ground."
2 Kings 2:7-8

Restoring Sight to the Blind
"As Jesus went
on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out,
"Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and
he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
"Yes, Lord" they replied.
Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your
faith will it be done to you"; and their sight was
restored";
Matthew 9:27-30
|
"When the
servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next
morning, and army with horses and chariots had surrounded
the city. "Oh, my lord, what shall we do?" the servant
asked.
"Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are
with us are more than those who are with them."
And Elisha prayed, "O Lord, open his eyes so he may
see." Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked
and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all
around Elisha."
2 Kings 6:15-7

Healing leprosy
"As he (Jesus)
was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him.
They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice,
"Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"
When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the
priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.".
Luke 17:12-4
|
"Naaman's
servants went to him and said, "My father, if the prophet,
Elisha, had told you to do some great thing, would you not
have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, 'Wash
and be cleansed'!" So he went down and dipped himself in the
Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his
flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young
boy."
2 Kings 5:13-4

Miracle in feeding people
"As evening
approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a
remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds
away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some
food." Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give
them something to eat." "We have here only five loaves of
bread and two fish," they answered. "Bring them here to me,"
he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the
grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking
up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he
gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to
the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the
disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that
were left over. The number of those who ate was about five
thousand men, besides women and children";
Matthew 14:15-21
|
"A man came
from Baal Shalishah, bringing the man of God twenty loaves
of barley bread baked from the first ripe grain, along with
some heads of new grain. "Give it to the people to eat,
"Elisha said.
"How can I set this before a hundred men?" his servant
asked.
But Elisha answered, "Give it to the people to eat. For
this is what the Lord says: 'They will eat and have some
left over.' "Then he set it before them, and they ate and
had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.".
2 Kings 4:42-4

Joshua stop the sun and moon
|
"On the day the
Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the
Lord in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over
Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon." So the sun
stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged
itself on its enemies. as it is written in the book of
Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed
going down about a full day. There has never been a day like
it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a man."
Joshua 10:12-4
|
Prophet was lifted up into the sky
|
"As they were
walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of
fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of
them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha
saw this and cried out, "My father! My father! The chariots
and horsemen of Israel!" And Elisha saw him no more."
